When I posted the Shoney's Big Boy painting, someone requested I do some Fallout Vault Boy paintings in the same style! I love requests and this idea, I had even tossed it around a bit before I started the Big Boy painting in the first place. The person requested a painting of a classic Vault Boy, so I'll be making one of those, but I have six others that I chose as well.

Here are some pictures of the starting sketches and some insight on how I make them. My line work and drawing skills aren't very strong, so I use a small and cheap projector to get a proportionate base. While it feels a little less genuine to use this method, I think of it just as another artist tool and it allows me to focus more on the actual painting. I AM enrolled in a drawing class this semester to help me improve that skill since I know it's a weakness, but this is a great method for anyone who struggles with line work. I use this projector; it's a little pixelated, but it works fine for vague outlines.
